Birmingham, Ala. – Sanders Capital Partners, LLC (SCP), a Birmingham-based real estate acquisition and development firm, has recently acquired Champaign Station, a 21,152 square-foot neighborhood retail center located in Champaign, Illinois. The $4.1 million acquisition marks SCP’s entry into Illinois and their continued investment into the broader Midwest market.
Located off of Interstate 74, Champaign Station is home to eight, predominantly retail-medical, tenants including Autism Spectrum Therapies, All About Eyes, and Stanfield Chiropractic.
“Champaign Station is well situated in an ideal retail corridor of an economically diverse city. Many of our retail centers have a large retail-medical component and Champaign is certainly in-line with this strategy,” stated Jackson Stewart, Executive Vice President & General Counsel for SCP.
“Retail-medical has been an important component of our long-term strategy. Being a sister company of The Sanders Trust, with its 30-year track record of nationwide healthcare investments, certainly gives us an advantageous insight into identifying and nurturing great assets,” Stewart added. “We are pleased to continue increasing our exposure to quality Midwest markets. This particular market and tenant mix have proven to be especially durable as well as useful to the community it serves.”
