A new retail development has broken ground in Liberty Park.
Local firm Sanders Capital Partners announced it has begun work on the $3 million, 9,000-square-foot retail property. SCP first announced the project last year, and it is located near the existing Prominence Shops.
As previously reported, Georgia-based Your Pie has signed on to open a new location at the development. The build-it-yourself pizza restaurant concept has already opened a spot in Homewood and announced one for Uptown Entertainment District at the BJCC.
Walter Kelly of ARC Realty is the leasing agent for the Liberty Park retail center, which has three more spaces to fill. Williams Blackstock is the architect, Stewart Perry Construction is the contractor, and Schoel Engineering will provide civil design services for the project.
“We are receiving numerous calls of interest from retailers and are evaluating who best meets our criteria,” said Jackson Stewart, general counsel for SCP, in a prepared statement. “This project is in our own backyard and we intend to lease the space to tenants who will add to the overall synergy and balance of the Liberty Park neighborhood.”
SCP said in a press release that it is looking for products or services that the surrounding community will appreciate and support.
The development adds another facet to the growing Liberty Park area, where last week Birmingham-based HealthSouth broke ground on its new 200,000-square-foot headquarters facility.
